FAQ
You've Got Questions, We've Got Answers.
How long is it going to take my carpet to dry once professionally cleaned?
Although drying is kept to a minimum, it is going to take at least a couple of hours for your carpet to dry. A professional carpet cleaning company controls the humidity as well as the airflow.
Do all carpet cleaning companies use harmful chemicals to clean carpets?
No. A professional carpet cleaning company uses non-toxic products to clean all types of carpets and stains. A neutral flushing agent will leave your carpets residue free.
Is it possible to remove all types of stains?
Yes and no. It is possible for all stains to be removed. Some discoloration may occur during the process, but there are professional treatments to restore it if the stain is treated by a professional.

However, it should be noted that when a non-professional applies chemicals to any stain, it reduces the chances of professional treatments working correctly. We encourage all of our clients to contact us before trying to remove a stain on their own. We may not have to perform any service but we can advise you if a professional removal is necessary.

And no, we will not lie to you just to charge you for a stain removal. All consultations are free.
What's the difference between a spot and a stain?
A stain is considered to be a permanent mark on the carpet.
A spot, on the other hand, is a substance that's soluble. A spot cleaner can be used to rectify that spot.
How often should I have my carpets cleaned?
Your carpets should be cleaned annually to maximize the cleanliness and life of them. For homes with children and pets, the process should be done every three to six months.
How long does the whole carpet cleaning process take?
Timing depends on the size of the rooms as well as the number of the rooms being cleaned. A small house or one room will naturally take less time than a large, multi-story house or several large rooms. On average, it takes approximately one hour to clean 300-400 square feet. This may be one large room or two smaller rooms, or a different layout entirely.
How much does carpet cleaning cost?
All carpet cleaning jobs are different.
Cost depends on size, carpet type, dirtiness, number of stains, type of stains, and whether or not there is a need for additional odor removal. At Matt Allison's Carpet Care, we charge in a predetermined range and are always willing to work with our customers on what they can pay. We believe that everyone should have access to a clean, healthy environment.
Do carpets get dirtier faster once cleaned?
No. This is strictly a myth. Once a carpet is cleaned, it takes a while for it to get dirty again due to the chemical residue that's left behind on it.
Is there a good time of year to clean my carpets?
There is and that time of year is spring. Spring cleaning helps to keep the air quality in your home good while getting all of the bacteria out of your carpets left over from winter. However, we always recommend cleaning your carpets at least once annually, even if that means getting it done at a different time of year. Waiting when your carpets are in true need of cleaning is not a good idea.
What are the warning signs that a carpet needs cleaned?
Major indicators include spots, stains, a dusty, musty smell in the air, pet odors, smoke odors, other odors with no apparent cause,1 or more years since your previous cleaning, or never having gotten your carpets cleaned.

If you are moving into a new home or apartment, we highly recommend having your carpets cleaned before allowing yourself or your family to move into the home. You may not be aware of the bacteria living in the flooring of your new home and do not want to expose yourself or your family to it.
What about pet problems and odors?
Pet stains and odors are common and usually require professional cleaning to remove. Your carpeting can be destroyed by untreated pet stains and odors. Both dog & cat urine, as well as feces, can damage the fibers and padding of your carpet, to say nothing of the stains and smells. A professional cleaning company can remove the fecal matter as well as ground in urine smells and stains.
Are there dust mites, germs, and other types of pollen in my carpeting and upholstered furniture?
Yes. Carpeting and upholstery absorb everything from crumbs to dust to microscopic bacteria. Anything that has been inside the house, including particles from the outdoors, can be in your carpeting and upholstered furniture. The good news is that a professional cleaning can remove these particles, allowing you to rest, and breath, easier.
Can I rent a carpet cleaning machine and do it by myself?
Yes, you are welcome to rent a machine and do your own cleaning, but no commercially available machine can clean with the same power, efficiency, and surety that a professional can. The machines cannot produce water at the same pressure or heat level as a professional machine. It would not be safe to do so.

Additionally, the cleaning chemicals available to the public are not the same, nor are they as strong, as those available to cleaning professionals.
Professional carpet cleaners not only use advanced technology, they are able to adapt to different types of carpet, different circumstances, and use appropriate chemistry to treat any given situation.
How do I find the right cleaning company to do my carpets?
You can ask around. By doing so, you're getting the opinions of others who have had their carpeting cleaned before professionally. Here at Matt Allison's Carpet Care, we have testimonials from many satisfied clients who have used our service and who continue to choose Matt Allison's Carpet Care for all their carpet and upholstery needs. We also offer free quotes to all clients with zero pressure to book so you can feel assured that you are getting the best quality for the best price.
How Is Upholstery Cleaning Different From Carpet Cleaning?
There are major differences in how carpets and furnishings are cleaned. For upholstery fabric, it is important not to use an excess of water, as this can cause bacteria to grow, bring out unpleasant odors and cause the fabric to becomes soiled more quickly. Depending upon the particular type of fabric, too much water in the cleaning process may even damage it. Upholstery in general requires gentler handling and specific cleaning methods according to the fabric.
Why Is It Important To Professionally Clean Furniture?
Over time, dirt, dust, pet dander and other potentially harmful toxins can get trapped in upholstery fabric, which might lead to allergies and respiratory ailments. Children, the elderly and pets might be especially susceptible to these types of substances. Professional fabric cleaning is far more thorough than what you can do on your own. Not only will your furniture look and smell great — it will also be much healthier and far more enjoyable to use.
Can You Get Rid Of Stains And Pet Odors From Furniture Upholstery?
Absolutely! As we do with our carpet cleaning, we’ll thoroughly clean your upholstery so it’s clean and fresh. Matt Allison's Carpet Care has over 15 years of experience, so our expert technicians know how to care for specialty materials such as chenille, boucle and silk brocades. For homes with children or pets, regular professional upholstery cleaning is recommended. There may be a lot of pet fur and dander in the fabrics which can cause allergic reactions, and children (and pets) may unknowingly transfer molds and other toxins from the outdoors which could also pose health risks
What Kind Of Chemicals Do You Use In Your Upholstery Cleaning?
Unlike other furniture cleaning companies, Matt Allison's Carpet Care uses eco-friendly and people-friendly cleaning solutions that are biodegradable and safe for human and animal members of your family.
What Do You Offer That Other Cleaning Companies Don’t?
At Matt Allison's Carpet Care, you’ll find a wide spectrum of services in addition to carpet cleaning, such as tile cleaning, odor removal and disinfection or sanitization.Â
We also provide on-site upholstery cleaning, so you don’t have to move heavy equipment to have it cleaned and then wait for an appointment to pick it up again. We’ll clean your furniture so it looks beautiful again, and all within your schedule.
